Cavendish College
We are: Aspirational
At Cavendish, we believe that we are not only setting our children up for Secondary School, but we are also setting them up for life. We give them the skills that they need to thrive both academically as well as throughout the lives, this includes: cooking, sewing, gardening, safety, British values, cultural capital, and an enjoyment of the arts.
To do this, we have created Cavendish College. This happens on a Friday afternoon where the children are split into different groups to take part in a variety of activities. We believe it is important that different year groups get the opportunity to mix and share their experiences. Year 6 have the opportunity to lead, and Year 3 have the opportunity to look up to the older children and be inspired by them.
Cavendish College teaches the following subjects/skills:
Cooking
Textiles
Outdoor Adventurous
Music
Art
Social Studies
Many of these subjects relate directly to the curriculum and build on the strong foundations from year group lessons. Below are the plans for our 4 year rolling programme of Cavendish College. This is designed so that all pupils have all of the skills required by the time they leave our school. To see how they relate to various subjects and how we offer 'stickiness' please see our separate 'stickiness' policy and our Long Term Plan found on the Curriculum page.
