Cavendish Junior School aim to help pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. Our carefully planned and sequenced lessons inspire pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past. Our pupils ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement. To support our pupils’ personal development, our curriculum helps pupils to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time.

We have a timeline that sits in the centre of our school so that pupils can use it to refer to and understand the chronology of history.

We have inspiration trips to Jorvik Viking Centre and Creswell Craggs to name only two, so that pupils can fully immerse themselves in history.

We also carry out Roman days and Victorian Days within school in order to bring learning to life!
